Here you are a swan.
Fire on the water.
Four moths.
Four months.
Held your breath
for too long
let it go.
Turned.

Belonging

Belonging: The sensation of simultaneously being born and giving birth to.
When you recall your childhood in the mountains,
among the milkweed drifting,
you drift through it, as it drifts
through you.
You may be driven to defend these places
from the prying eyes of those who would own them
without the knowledge of them that resonates
in your bones.
But do not do this in the same language.
You belong to these places,
as they belong to you
but you do not own them.
Ownership is a frightening and tenuous territory,
dependent on proof, on contracts
things written in blood (you know where your scars come from).
Belonging
is something
that needs no words
for it lies beneath them.

Here we are,
spinning metal down the freeway
while up in the sky, the stars do the same.
Though they seem still
or at times even tranquil,
the heavens also chase their tails and their own names.
Bury all of your prayers
so you can find them anywhere
cast them into the wind
so you hear them in everything.
The hardest thing to know
is which way to walk when you're walking home.

The chariot weaver
prods your legs when you are sleeping
is this madness
is it belief
do you have faith
in what you can't see
Oh above, and oh below:
Hell above, and hell below.
Oh child, find your home.
In darkness walk alone.
Oh above, and oh below:
Hell above, and hell below.

Behind The Light
01:46
|

Thought you found the time before
you fell into my life
Spun around your head,
it was turning in the light
oh you saw it rising,
and curled up in your spine
I feel the fire leaving
as I/you hang it up to dry
Pause because you found a tiny entrance
that will bring you inside
look as you're leaving behind the light

You Can Always Leave

Home should be a place you can find with no map.
Home should be a place you can leave and then come back.
Home should be a place you can walk to.
